Minors in Ivan Allen College

The schools of Ivan Allen College offer a wide variety of minors for students who wish to focus on course work in areas of interest to them. Students are encouraged to pursue minor and certificate programs at Georgia Tech to broaden their knowledge of other disciplines to expand their potential for success in their future endeavors. Pursuing a minor is a fantastic way to develop an interest into a skill—or even turning it into a new passion.

If you plan to pursue a minor, meet with the advisor in the department offering the minor to plan the appropriate courses. Remember: it is not necessary to decide which minor to pursue within your first semester at Georgia Tech. However, you are encouraged to explore your options and keep your advisor(s) informed.

All minor programs require between 15 to 18 hours of course work, and at least 12 hours must be taken at the 3000 level or higher. A list of minors offered at Georgia Tech is available on the Georgia Tech Catalog site.

Once you've decided on a minor

  1. You must declare a minor by submitting a Change/Addition of An Academic Minor(s) Form. To download the form, or for more information, please visit the Registrar's section on minors.
  2. You must also submit an Approved Program of Study to the registrar with your degree petition after you and your advisor meet to complete your degree petition paperwork. For more information, please visit the Registrar's section on the Approved Program of Study.

Minors are posted on your final transcript. Meet with the Minor Coordinator to ensure the classes you choose to take are approved for your minor and to be notified when any changes to the minor's requirements are made. For additional information, visit the Registrar's website.
