The Ivan Allen College Student Advisory Board proudly announces our recipients for the 2009 IAC SAB Awards. These students received recommended by IAC professors as well as students and were carefully selected from an encouraging group of applicants. Their truly exceptional records of spirit, service, and leadership within the college, the greater community, and even internationally represent outstandingly the goals of the Ivan Allen College. Deserved congratulations to the following students for hard work and success in the IAC:
Zachary Aten- Success Beyond Campus Award
Zachary is an Economics and International Affairs major. He has participated in a variety internship and volunteer activities which have taken him from Turkey to China and is currently a student assistant with the School of Economics.
Kristie Champlin- Community Service Award
Kristie, a Public Policy major, has devoted her time to a several campus activities such as Take Back the Night, Dance Marathon and Ambassadors. She has also worked with the English Avenue community and has helped develop a Service-Learning program in Peru for GT students.
Katie Base- College Spirit Award
Katie Base is a Public Policy major. She has been a dedicated member of the Student Advisory Board, currently serving as the Vice President. She has contributed to various college recruitment campaigns, worked on a gubernatorial campaign and has relentlessly strived to enhance the IAC.
Nick Wellkamp- Student Leadership Award
Nick Wellkamp, a Public Policy major, has been a devoted member of SGA and currently serves as Student Body President. While a member of SGA he participated on the Student Advisory Council and successfully led a group of students to campaign for student input on future tuition discussion with the Board of Regents.
These students will receive a plaque at the annual Tech Awards Banquet this April.
